RIP our dear Lady Airy Fairy, Jules, 26.06.1943 - 17.06.2022
24th April
It may have been freezing today, but Ely was full to overflowing with warmth . Those of us RHBees that braved the cold and wet along with 230 other RHSisters had a thoroughly enjoyable day. We made new Red Hat friends and introduced Hatting to several complete strangers .
Hils had done a terrific job alerting shopkeepers we would be out in force, they in turn dressed their shop windows with a glorious array of Red and Purple, one little shop even put a birthday cake in their window in colours of course!
Fun and friendship at it's best ........Happy 18th Birthday Hatters

Loverly as always to see everyone at the T today.
Hard to believe we are going into our 3rd year, with April just around the corner.
Jeanne is busy planning her craft days which she will run throughout the whole of April. Everyone is welcome, all you need to do is email her, jeannejackson834@gmail.com and arrange a date that best suits you both.
If you haven't been to one of these craft days before it's not to be missed. A warm welcome awaits you at Vine Cottage Knox Lane Bardwell, from our loverly and talented Jeanne other wise known as " The Purple Empress"
Under Jeanne's expert guidance you will not only come away with a new hat / fascinator, but also enjoy a delicious lunch of home made soup accompanied by beautiful bread either homemade by James or possibly purchased from The Bardwell Bakery. All this for a mere £5.00 per head, this charge has been set by us the chapter not Jeanne, who feels very embarrassed about charging for lunch, so this year is including a dessert to her lunch menu, believe me it will be worth every penny.
Do come armed with extra cash as there will be millinery haberdashery for you to purchase at cost price should you need it.
Alternatively you may have a hat that you would like to transform? Feel free to bring it along, new projects always welcome that's just fine.
If millinery wasn't enough "The Dotty Duchess Carol " is happy to be on hand to pass on her jewellery making skills, over the past 2 years some amazing items have been made...the RHBees talents it's endless.
What a brilliant hive we have, as always I feel really proud to be part of this fabulous Chapter.

How lovely to see so many of you at our first T of the year. We managed to seat 27 of us into the Six Bells, I do believe that's the largest number we have had at any one T. Everyone had fun catching up with each other after the holidays.
We have several events planned for 2016 dates and times you will find on our website. The Birthday girls Brenda , Sheila and Coral are hosting this months lunch at the very popular La Hogue Farm Shop and Cafe.
Bowling is becoming a regular event, going some way to helping us with our fitness. If you don't fancy the bowling, I can guarantee you a good laugh as you cheer us on!!!!!
A first for our chapter Book Club, Mavis has done a grand job ordering a number of books from the library . Of course if you wish to buy your own that's easy done online download to your kindle or buy paperbacks, you will find the title and author on our website shortly.
Another first for us, a coffee morning, Janet S has arranged this at the Dutch Barn, Blo' Norton. A little gem of a plac , somehow I feel this could become a regular event too.
I'm going to sign off now, how many of the 5 Fs do you think I have covered????
Wishing you all the very best for the coming year love Vivxx

2nd January 2016
Happy New Year to you and yours, with festivities almost over I hope it's been an enjoyable time for you. Now to dig our Red Hats out and think about the coming week. Wednesday 6th, 19 of us are heading into London, meeting up with Hatters from all over the country to enjoy "Close to You " details below. Friday, our monthly Tea at the Six Bells. If you have any ideas of things you would like to suggest for in the coming year, bring them along .
"Close to You " @ The Criterion Theatre . Travelling by coach with Turners.
Normal format which seems to work well for us.
1st pickup Tithe Barn Bardwell 10am
2nd pick up Ram Meadow car park 10.30am
3rd pick up Newmarket Homebase 11am
Comfort stop on the way and then into London. I think most of you know we are booked into The Cricketers for a post show meal, this pub is run by Jamie Oliver's parents and comes well recommended. I hope you all enjoy it .
The Cricketers, Clavering have a good website if you would like to view that .
Tickets & travel has been pre paid , but not the after show meal.

18th December 2015
Well hasn't it been a full year, from making snowmen out of each other last December at Sandra's house, some of us went on to becoming weather girls at the BBC in Norwich.
We celebrated our chapters 1st Birthday, welcomed new members, voting in our 2 Vice Queens, Mavis & Sandra. Myself being asked to take on the roll of Ambassador .......changes a plenty .
A regular bowling group has sprung up thanks to Ruthie, VQMavis has arranged our own Bees Book Club set to start in the new year. We took part in the London Hat Walk, went cruising on the river from Ipswich, Dog racing in Great Yarmouth !!!! Not forgetting the Hoot in Amsterdam & Convention in St Albans. Theatre trips, days at the races, treasure hunts at the coast. When you look back we have done so much, while all the time sharing fun and laughter plus the all important friendship you are so brilliant at. Supporting each other through the ups and downs life inevitably throws at us.
Our birthday lunches for me seem to be the most consistently successful event. Zak's today with the December birthday girls a super way to round off our year. Thank you all for making our chapter the successful group it is.
Several things are planned for 2016. Fiery Fascinators chapters 5th birthday party, theatre trips booked, Chinese New Year arranged, Hatter Olympics, a garden party, coffee mornings plus lots more.
Paul continues to welcome us at The Six Bells, challenging though it is some times to fit us all in, with his help rearranging the furniture and then replacing it once we have left, we manage. All this at no charge, I think you would agree we are extremely lucky. As you know we have agreed to pay £2.00 per person each time we attend a T. If you wish to partake in tea or coffee no extra charge for that .
I would like to sign off by wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas along with good health and much happiness for the New Year.

13th November 2015
Another enjoyable tea, you're such a jolly lot, it's lovely seeing so many of you at our home hive The Six Bells, November being our last tea of 2015 at our base. For December only, we are decamping to The Tithe Barn, where Mavis, Sandra and I invite you to enjoy us in a little festive cheer. We hope as many of you as possible come along, 11th Dec, 2pm for 2.30pm, our normal tea time. This year, a slight change along with £5.00 Secret Santa, we would like to do a card exchange, if we each bring just one Christmas card, we will all go home with a gift and a card ........
As you will see from our calendar of events there are lots of things going on during November and December.
Next year is already starting off with new and exciting things. VQ Mavis has set up a RHBees Book Club, based at Hillcrest Coffee shop, 3rd Thursday of each month, 4pm, cost £2.00 each which includes a tea / coffee. If you're lucky enough to get books for Christmas bring one or all of them along. The idea is for us to decide which book we would like to read, come back next month, discuss the book we have read and decide which book we would like to read the following month.
Bowling has proved to be very popular, I think that will also become a regular event thanks to Ruthie and all the good sports that participate .
You should already have received your booking form for Convention 2016 "we're off to chi", The South Downs Holiday Village near Chichester, West Sussex, 14th -17th October. Hosted by Queen Suzie and The Mulberry Divas .......Convention can be amazing fun, if you have never been it's worth going. It's nothing like a convention in the usual sense, just a vehicle for enjoyment in our usual Red Hat Style .
Thanks for all the love and support you have given throughout 2015 - here's to 2016.
