Jeanne has found her feather boa! it is in a bit of a sorry state - anyone know how to revive an oily, bedraggled ostrich?

New Chapter June 2014
A New Chapter in Our Area
Some exciting news. Linda a member of one of the Cambridge chapter , has taken the plunge and started a chapter in her own right .
Living between Newmarket and Ely she was finding the distance to Cambridge a little much.
Linda, aka Queen Linda La Rouge, will base her chapter in Fordham at The Crown Public House. Quite apt for a Queen, don't you think . I believe she is going to hold a monthly meeting at the Crown as yet I'm unsure of times and dates. I'm sure you will join me in wishing Linda every success. If you know of anyone in her area who may like to boost her membership please spread the word.

Red Hat Ambassador
Congratulations from the Red Hat Bees of Bardwell to Hils of Vermilion Vixens on being appointed a Red Hat Ambassador
Excellent trip to the Tower of
London!
From Mazza
Viv, Carol and myself, Mazza, joined Hils and 2 other of the Vixens for a door to door trip to London. Hils had organised a night-time tour of the Tower for about 50 Red Hats. We all met up in a pub opposite the Tower of London, 5 other Vixens came by train and were making a weekend of it, staying in a hotel overnight. There were 7 chapters represented, with chapters from Hertfordshire, Arundel in Suffolk and of course the London Red Hatters, to mention just a few. The tour was great fun and very interesting. Keith, our guide gave us a humorous potted history of the Tower upon our arrival. We then retired to the Yeoman Warders Club where we were treated to a cold buffet, followed by a raffle of exclusive items from the club. After warming up with a few drinks Keith took us to see the Ceremony of the Keys, which takes place at 10pm each night, when the tower is locked up for the night. We were very lucky with the weather, dodging the showers and a great time was had by all.

I attended the funeral of Sheila Parsons from The Swindon Ladadahs on Monday 20 January. Sheila attended our Convention at Centre Parcs and as she was the only one from her chapter she shared a chalet with Ruth and me, Sandra and Edna. We met up again at the Stratford upon Avon Convention when Sheila told me she had cancer and despite undergoing treatment there was nothing further they could do. We said we keep in touch and when Sheila emailed me at the beginning of December I said I would like to go to Swindon in the New Year to see her and her chapter. Unfortunately after a great trip on the Orient Express with her daughter, Sheila died on 3 January. I felt I should honour my promise to go to Swindon in the New Year, for the funeral. Sheila had her best Red Hat on the coffin and they even read the ‘warning’ poem at the service. Sheila was a very brave lady and had already arranged to donate all of her Red Hat items to her chapter.

Viv hits Chicago!
Viv says: "Whilst visiting Chicago over Christmas & New Year I was very lucky to be the the guest along with my stepdaughter, Charice, of Queen Barb .....Queen of Hearts Chapter #4900 Elmwood Park, Illinois . Barb had the honour of being chosen Red Hatter of the year 2012/13. She made us most welcome along with 12 of her chapter @ Fat Ducks,a smashing bar / restaurant. They pulled out all the stops for us both, one hatter making a 4 hour drive to join us .
Barb has spent most of her life in Chicago but is very proud to come from England , as a small child going to school in Chalfont St Giles Bucks .
Pat Quinn the Governor of the State of Illinois made a proclamation on 22nd March 2013 that April
25th to be known as international Red Hat Day in Illinois .
One state down the rest of the world to be converted!"
